Description: Mineral resource occurrence data covering the State of Georgia (2005). This data comes from records previously provided in the Mineral Resource Data System (MRDS) of USGS and the Mineral Availability System/Mineral Industry Locator System (MAS/MILS) originated in the U.S. Bureau of Mines, now part
of US Geologic Survey (USGS). The MRDS is a large and complex relational database developed over several decades by hundreds of researchers and reporters. This product is a digest in which the fields chosen are those most likely
to contain valid information.

Description: This dataset (year 2000) delineates mapped geologic units for the state of Georgia (compiled on a scale of 1:500,000). The map compilation was published by the Georgia Geologic Survey in 1976 as the Geologic Map of Georgia. The majority of rock units were mapped by reconnaissance methods during the year 1973 and represent over 15 man-years of effort. Description: This dataset (year 1996) identifies approximately 13,000 square miles (23 percent) of Georgia's land surface through which the most significant natural ground-water recharge occurs, as described in Georgia Geologic Survey Hydrologic Atlas 18: "Most Significant Ground-Water Recharge Areas of Georgia," published in 1989. The dataset was mapped at a nominal scale of 1:500,000. Description: The STATSGO (1998) database is a digital general soil association map developed by the National Cooperative Soil Survey. It consists of a broad based inventory of soils and nonsoil areas that occur in a repeatable pattern on the landscape and that can be cartographically shown at the scale mapped (nominally 1:250,000). This data set is a subset of the original STATSGO data set developed by the National Cooperative Soil Survey.
